Will increasing my mood stabiliser medicine STOP my innappropriate laughter?
Hi,
My name is Bree, and I have Bipolar disorder.
I have been taking 1400mg Epilim (mood stabiliser) and 2mg Risperidone (anti-manic) medicine for the past 3 years after a breakdown and these medicines, along with not drinking, or smoking or taking party drugs has kept me sane and out of hospital and able to live a relatively normal life, apart from my innappropriate laughter that I display at least twice a day and especially in social settings.
I asked my doctor why I laugh innappropriately at times, and he said it is 'Social Anxiety' doing it, but the thing is I NEVER had this problem before I got Bipolar 4 years ago... so why is it happening?
I decided to INCREASE my mood stabiliser Epilim from 1400mg a day, to 1800mg a day so I am more controlled, and I feel MUCH better, have I done the right thing?
I have tried Homeopathy to control my laughter outbursts, and Chinese herbal pills Çalm Spirit teapills, which work to a degree, but I have never felt more 'sane' since increasing my meds.
Again is this the right thing to do?
Will this help me?
xx
Thanks
And don't listen to the fellow who said get checked for "schizophrenia." Laughing accounts for happiness, nervousness, confusions...etc. as well.
