Why do shows have pre-recorded laughter?
For example, in iCarly, you have probably heard the "oh ohhhhh" after laughter
at 0:24, listen for the oh ohhh thing:

I'm just wondering why they do pre-recorded laughter and stuff. Why don't they just do the True Jackson thing and have a live audience??
How much do you really want to know about laugh tracks? Everything? OK! Read here:

prerecorded laughter is better than a live audiance simply b/c you can control it. you know what to expect. live audiances are unpredictable and can sometimes detract from the overall effect a character is trying to get across. they are distracting.
Pre-recorded laughter has been around for a long time. Even shows recorded in front of a live audience use it all the time. It covers up bad jokes and bad script writing.
A show like iCarly can't quite have a live audience.
