Who else finds canned laughter unnecessary and annoying in sitcoms?
In my opinion, sitcoms would be so much better if they simply left out the canned laughter. I don't need the canned laughter signal to let me know when to laugh and when not to. I can figure it out on my own what's funny and what's not funny on a show. It's just annoying. Who agrees?
Laugh Tracks only seem to bother me on shows that just are not funny. I admittedly don't even notice it if I am watching a good show and am enjoying myself and into the content but on unfunny shows, the laugh track can be really annoying and get old fast so I agree.
For the most part I don't even realize the canned laughter but there have been times when I will notice it and then I can't stop paying attention and thinking about how stupid it is! But I know that shows such as Seinfeld were filmed in front of a live studio audience and the laughs are actually real. In The Parking Garage episode there was no live audience however so they had one from another episode stay and watch it so they could record the laughter and play it during The Parking Garage. I thought that was an interesting fact!
They annoy the hell out of me too. They would be so much better without them
I suppose they are slightly patronizing because it is like they don't think you know when to laugh!
