Is laughter really about humor?
Why do people laugh even when something isn't funny? Like when someone is already laughing and people join in, not even knowing what the other person is laughing at? It happened at work yesterday, and it really made no sense. Is laughing just more about relieving stress and awkwardness instead of a trigger in response to actual humor?
People obviously laugh when they find something funny but laughter is also used as method of bonding. So when your workmate started laughing because the other were laughing, it was a way to fit in with the group and bond with them.
Probably, but laughter only comes in when there is humor.
But i guess it can come in when there is happiness, like if you won the lottery, you'd probably be screaming and laughing from joy.
